Introduction and objective: Occupational burnout and job satisfaction are important issues affecting the functioning of medical personnel, including electroradiologists. The aim ofthe study was to assess job satisfaction and the risk of burnout among electroradiologists working in the Kielce Province.
Material and methods: The research was conducted by means of a questionnaire made available online in hospitals in the Kielce
Province in the first quarter of 2023. The survey consisted of author-designed questions, including respondents’ particulars, and standardized questionnaires were used: Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) and The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI). Results Electroradiologists were characterized by a mediocre level of job satisfaction (65.08 scores) and a mediocre level of occupational burnout (lack of commitment -18.14 scores; exhaustion – 18.82 scores). The respondents’ mean age was 42, and length of service – 17.8 years. As many as 79.9% of respondents had post-secondary education, and 20.1% had a university degree in electroradiology. Females significantly more often than males had a higher job satisfaction and lower levels of burnout. The level of job satisfaction among electroradiologists inversely correlated with occupational burnout.
Conclusions: The level of job satisfaction and occupational
burnout among electroradiologists employed in hospitals
in the Kielce Province was mediocre, indicating moderate
satisfaction with work conditions and the duties performed.
A significant relationship was observed between job satisfaction and occupational burnout. A decrease in job satisfaction was accompanied by an increase in occupational burnout, which confirms the need for preventive measures in this area. Factors significantly affecting the negative assessment
of job satisfaction and the risk of burnout were: male gender, number of work posts, and multi-profile hospitals.
