Internal control from the aspect of internal monitoring of actions preventing spread of infections and infectious diseases in healthcare facilities in the light of legal acts in effect

Introduction:
According to the Act of 5 December 2008 on the Prevention and Control of Infections and infectious diseases in humans, managers of healthcare facilities or other persons providing health services are obliged to carry out internal audits in the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of infections and communicable diseases. The main piece of legislation governing the principles of internal control is the Regulation by the Minister of Health of 27 May 2010 in the matter of the scope, method and frequency of internal audit in the area of implementation of measures to prevent the spread of infections and communicable diseases.
Objective:
The purpose of this article is to characterize the conduct of internal control in medical units since the entry into force of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of 27 May 2010 on the scope, method and frequency of internal audit in the area of implementation of measures to prevent the spread of infection and infectious diseases.
Description of knowledge:
One of the most important elements of functioning of each healthcare facility is the internal testing of its operation. Internal control is a system of mechanisms, instructions and techniques aimed at obtaining information about whether the plans implemented in the institution lead to the intended purposes.
Results:
In practice, the introduction of legislation in effect requires commitment, knowledge and competence of all persons providing health services. It should also be kept in mind that the legislation is merely a framework for actions, the scope and detailed content of which should be based primarily on current medical knowledge
