Over 60 types of diseases and injuries are related with alcohol consumption. The objective of the study was the analysis of alcohol consumption among junior high school adolescents in Poland, and the assessment of factors increasing the risk of addiction to alcohol. The study covered junior high school adolescents aged 12-17 and their parents. The research instrument was a questionnaire form. The results were subjected to statistical analysis. Completed questionnaire forms were obtained from 9,360 schoolchildren and 6,950 parents. As many as 23% of junior high school adolescents admit that they consume alcohol. The most popular drink is beer. Approximately 2% of parents declare that their children consume alcohol, and 7% indicate that one of the family members abuses alcohol. Among the participants of the project ‘Keep Fit’, a higher percentage of children report that they do not consume alcohol.
